The freezing process technology is as follows: work is performed with a modern compressor, measuring the distance between accumulated ice in the pipe and the welding point — at least one metre to maintain pressure; pipe fittings and valves must be secured approximately 100 mm from the frozen water accumulation point; polymer connections are attached to the pipes with screws and clamps; the compressor is activated with a refrigerant mixture, generating temperatures down to -30°C.

The entire freezing process is controlled by an experienced master using metering valves. The resulting ice plug is capable of withstanding 8–10 atmospheres of pressure without any signs of pipe rupture.
