Gas Leak Detection
Licensed gas leak detection in Tallinn and Harju County – 24/7 emergency response, electronic gas sniffer surveys, soap-bubble joint testing, pressure tests, and signed leak-test reports issued by TJA-registered gas specialists.
If you smell gas at home, time matters more than anything else. A leaking joint, a perished gasket, a corroded riser pipe – any one of them can fill an apartment with an explosive air-gas mixture in minutes. Torudeabi 24 is listed on the Technical Regulatory Authority (TJA) economic-activities register for the construction, repair, and technical inspection of gas installations, and our gas specialists are on call 24/7 to find leaks, isolate them, and certify your installation as safe again.
We arrive with calibrated electronic gas detectors that sense methane and propane down to a few parts per million, walk every metre of indoor gas pipework, test every threaded and compression joint with leak-detection foam, and run a sealed pressure test on the whole system. Once the leak is located we shut it off, replace the failing fitting or section of pipe, repeat the pressure test, and issue you a signed leak-test report you can hand to your insurer, your apartment association, or Gaasi AS.
How we find the leak
Electronic gas-sniffer survey: a calibrated handheld detector (methane/propane, ppm-level sensitivity) – we walk the full indoor gas line including risers, branches, shut-off valves, the gas meter, the regulator, and every appliance connection. Any zone that triggers the detector is flagged for closer testing.
Soap-bubble (foam) test: we apply purpose-made leak-detection foam (not domestic dish soap) to every threaded and compression fitting and watch for bubbles. This is the standard method to pinpoint the exact leak point, especially when the electronic detector flags suspicion across a wider zone.
Pressure test: we close the system shut-off valves and bring the gas pressure to the required test value (typically 50–150 mbar for Estonian low-pressure systems). We measure the pressure drop over a fixed interval – if pressure holds, the system is leak-tight; if pressure falls, there is a leak, and we continue with closer localisation.
What we do once the leak is found
Isolate the leak and make it safe: as soon as the leak is located we close the affected branch at its shut-off valve – or, if needed, the apartment or building main – ventilate the room, eliminate ignition sources, and prevent appliance use until the repair is complete.
Replace the failing joint or section of pipe: we replace the defective gasket, threaded fitting, shut-off valve, or short pipe section with original or certified spares (copper EN 1057, steel EN 10255, flexible hose EN 14800). All work is performed only with the gas isolated and the line vented down.
Re-test and signed report: after the repair we repeat the electronic-sniffer survey, the foam test, and the pressure test across the full system. If everything holds, we issue you a signed leak-test report stating the date, the test results, and the TJA competency-certificate number of the responsible specialist – exactly the document your insurer, your apartment association, or Gaasi AS will ask for the day anything happens to the gas installation.
